A: That usually happens when a system is installed and then left alone. We use gentler setbacks, refresh the air while the room is empty so it recovers fast, control humidity, and flag problem rooms so VIP guests don't land in them. Room controls are always optional: we can start with public spaces and the building system. - Q: We already had a system and turned it off. A: We start with a health check of what is still installed. Often it can be brought back before you spend on anything new. - Q: We just installed a new building system. A: That's ideal. The platform sits on top of it, maps what it covers and fills the gaps. - Q: Replacement parts eat the savings. A: Our partners don't work for a manufacturer, so net savings are reported to you as they are, on a regular schedule. - Q: We don't have the capital right now. A: The assessment has no obligation, and the plan is phased around your budget. ### Energy insights and advisory - Q: Our utility data sits in dozens of portals. Where do you start? A: We gather the bills and meter data for every property, check them for gaps and errors, and keep them current. You get one data set you can trust instead of a folder of downloads. - Q: We already report through ENERGY STAR. What changes? A: The quality of what goes in. We check the data before it is submitted and report it in the formats your investors, brands and regulators ask for, with quality control before anything reaches you. - Q: Do we need to install new meters? A: Not to get started. We begin with the utility bills and meter data you already have, and recommend more metering only where it would change a decision. - Q: How do we know your recommendations are independent? A: Neither ONPEAK nor its partners are tied to any equipment manufacturer or provider. We evaluate proposals open-book and rank opportunities by savings, cost and payback. - Q: Can you help with rebates and incentives? A: Yes. When a project moves forward, we represent you through vendor selection, rebates and incentives, and measurement of the results. ### On-site energy - Q: Does battery storage reduce our energy use? A: No. Storage reduces your energy bill. It shifts when you draw power from the grid, cuts peak charges and keeps critical systems running during an outage. - Q: Do we need capital to get started? A: Not necessarily. Solar can be delivered under a purchase agreement, and battery storage is available as a service with no upfront investment. - Q: Which technology is right for our site? A: It depends on your load profile, your tariff, your available roof and land, and what an outage costs you. We look at solar, storage, firm generation and grid programs together, and recommend the mix that fits. - Q: Where are demand response and site leasing available? A: Both are available in the United States. - Q: What do you need from us to begin? A: Twelve months of utility bills. From those we return a first view of what your site can produce, store and earn. ### Multifamily programs - Q: Is there really no capital cost? A: In Illinois and Minnesota, yes, for the measures that qualify through participating utilities. In Michigan the programs pay rebates after the work is done, so the upgrades are discounted rather than free. Your scan shows which applies to each property, and our agreement names each program. - Q: What is the ONPEAK fee for? A: Qualifying each property, preparing and submitting every application, coordinating contractors, residents and your staff, making sure every eligible measure is approved, and delivering an owner report. You pay only once the upgrades are approved. - Q: Why work with ONPEAK? A: Every utility runs its own offerings, rules, budgets and deadlines, and they change each program year. Eligible measures are easy to miss, larger projects can qualify for more than a standard assessment shows, and a portfolio often spans several territories. We handle all of it across your properties and report the result. - Q: Which savings reach the owner? A: It depends on who pays each bill. Water, sewer, central hot water and common areas usually reach the owner. In-unit electricity usually reaches residents. Our report separates the two. - Q: What do my staff and residents need to do? A: Residents receive a notice before installation day. Your team provides access and an escort for the technicians. We prepare the notices and the schedule. - Q: Where do you work? A: We enroll properties in Chicago, the Chicago suburbs, central and southern Illinois, the Twin Cities in Minnesota and Southeast Michigan, and we track funding programs in ten states. If your properties are elsewhere, send them anyway and we will tell you what applies. - Q: Does my Chicago building qualify? A: Utility programs in Chicago typically cover buildings with three or more units, both market rate and income qualified. ONPEAK works with properties of 50 units or more. Send the address and we will confirm. - Q: My building reports under the Chicago Energy Benchmarking ordinance. Does that help? A: Yes. Your reported energy use tells us where a building stands against similar Chicago apartment buildings, so the scan can focus on the measures most likely to matter. - Q: How long does it take? A: The scan takes 48 hours once we have your bills. Assessment and installation timing depends on the program's schedule and your building's access, and we plan it with your team. - Q: Does my suburban property qualify? A: Utility programs in the Chicago suburbs typically cover buildings with three or more units, both market rate and income qualified. ONPEAK works with properties of 50 units or more. Send the address and we will confirm. - Q: Does it matter which gas utility serves my property? A: It changes which gas-side measures apply, such as hot water and heating upgrades, but usually not whether you can take part. The scan covers both your electric and gas service. - Q: Does my Minnesota property qualify? A: Most apartment buildings with a common entrance and hallways and a kitchen in every unit qualify, when they are served by participating utilities. Townhome communities are not included. ONPEAK works with properties of 50 units or more. Send the address and we will confirm. - Q: Is there really no cost? A: Yes for the assessment and the direct-install measures. Larger projects earn rebates, and market-rate properties receive a 30% bonus on top, which reduces your cost rather than removing it. Your scan separates the two. - Q: What does my team need to do? A: Very little. We prepare everything, coordinate the visits and resident notices, and come back to your team only for access and approvals. - Q: Do income-qualified properties receive more? A: Yes. Income-qualified buildings receive a 200% rebate bonus and additional measures such as appliance replacement and, in some buildings, heat pump upgrades. Tell us about the residents and we will check which applies. - Q: Does my central or southern Illinois property qualify? A: Utility programs here typically cover buildings with three or more units. ONPEAK works with properties of 50 units or more. Send the address and we will confirm. - Q: How is this different from the Chicago area program? A: The utilities in the Chicago area and in central and southern Illinois run separate programs with their own offers and rules. If you own properties in both, we handle both and report them together. - Q: Does my Michigan property qualify? A: Utility programs in Southeast Michigan typically cover buildings with three or more units under one roof. ONPEAK works with properties of 50 units or more. Send the address and we will confirm. - Q: Is this really no cost? A: The assessment is free. Michigan upgrades are paid for by rebates after the work is done, so the owner funds the equipment first and claims the rebate. Your scan shows what each project could return before you decide. - Q: Why does timing matter? A: Rebate funds are limited each program year. Starting early gives a project the best chance of being funded. ## Optional - [About ONPEAK Energy](https://onpeakenergy.com/about/) - [Sitemap](https://onpeakenergy.com/sitemap.xml)
